As Vice President & Medical Director of Prudential Insurance, Dr. Robert Pokorski helps financial advisors, their clients, and consumers better understand the health issues they need to consider when creating or reviewing a retirement plan.
Dr. Pokorski is an internationally-renowned lecturer and author. He has travelled the country giving presentations on health- related topics such as the non-financial shocks that can threaten retirement security. These shocks include being forced to retire early, high out-of-pocket medical expenses later in life, long-term care, widowhood, and living longer than expected.
Dr. Pokorski is certified by the Board of Insurance Medicine and American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He holds an MBA from Heriot- Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.
He has published more than 140 articles in such prestigious publications as Nature, Cancer, and The American Journal of Human Genetics. Dr. Pokorski, who is an expert on longevity, has delivered more than 600 presentations to audiences worldwide. He has also served on the editorial boards of the North American Actuarial Journal and The Journal of Insurance Medicine.
Prior to joining The Prudential Insurance Company of America located in Newark, NJ, Dr. Pokorski worked for The Hartford, where he was the first Chief Medical Strategist in the company’s 200-year history.
