Valerie Albarda is a former Legal Manager and Business Analyst who went from a stressful career to the stress of unemployment. Although unemployment slowed her down, it didn’t stop her. After relocating from Atlanta, GA to Stamford, CT in 2009, Valerie endured a breast cancer scare that was life-altering but which turned out to be the catalyst for change within her. “Writing was on the back burner. It was time to bring it to the forefront,” she says.
Valerie’s reinvention of herself included authoring three books, including “Gettin’ Back to Happy,” her personal take on 365 days of happiness. She is the creator of Midlife-A-Go-Go, a website dedicated to celebrating the wonderful women of midlife, and a regular blogger at Huffington Post. Valerie is on a mission to empower other women in what she terms “this fabulous sorority called midlife.” And as she believes that food is more than just a nutritional source, she also created the blog Bon Vivant, which also includes her travel escapades.
Valerie, an avid traveler who has been to Italy, Budapest, Amsterdam and Mexico in the past year alone, lives in Cramerton, North Carolina with her husband, Maarten, and their dog, Chaka.
